GLOBE VALVE

A Globe valve is a linear motion valve and are primarily designed to stop, start and regulate flow. The disk of a Globe valve can be totally removed from the flowpath or it can completely close the flowpath.

Conventional Globe valves may be used for isolation and throttling services. Although these valves exhibit slightly higher pressure drops than straight=through valves (e.g., gate, plug, ball, etc.), they may be used where the pressure drop through the valve is not a controlling factor.

Globe valves are extensively employed to control flow. The range of flow control, pressure drop, and duty must be considered in the design of the valve to avert premature failure and to assure satisfactory service. Valves subjected to high-differential pressure-throttling service require specially designed valve trim.

A globe valve is a type of linear motion valve designed to regulate, start, or stop the flow of fluid in a pipeline. It gets its name from the shape of its body, which resembles a globe or a sphere. Globe valves are widely used in various industries due to their versatility and ability to provide precise flow control.
Here is a more detailed description of a globe valve and its key components:
Body: The body of a globe valve is typically made of metal, such as cast iron, bronze, stainless steel, or ductile iron. It houses all the internal components and provides the main structure for the valve.
Bonnet: The bonnet is a removable cover that sits on top of the body. It is designed to enclose the valve's stem and disc assembly, providing protection and support. The bonnet also contains packing material that prevents leakage around the stem.
Disc (or Plug): The disc is the movable element inside the valve that controls the flow of fluid. It is usually flat or slightly conical in shape and is connected to the valve stem. When the stem is moved, the disc either lifts off the seat to allow fluid flow or is pressed down onto the seat to stop the flow.
Stem: The stem is a slender, threaded rod that connects the handwheel or actuator at the top of the valve to the disc. When the handwheel is turned or the actuator is activated, the stem moves, causing the disc to move up or down, adjusting the flow of fluid through the valve.
Seat: The seat is a sealing surface inside the valve body against which the disc makes contact when in the closed position. It creates a tight shut-off, preventing any leakage when the valve is fully closed.
Packing: The packing is a sealing material used to create a seal around the stem, preventing leakage along the stem where it passes through the bonnet. Common packing materials include graphite or PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene).
Globe valves are considered versatile because they can handle a wide range of flow rates and pressures. They offer excellent throttling capabilities, making them ideal for applications where precise flow control is necessary. These valves are commonly used in systems that handle water, steam, oil, gas, and other fluids.
There are two main types of globe valves: "T-pattern" and "Y-pattern." The T-pattern globe valve has a simple 90-degree turn design, while the Y-pattern globe valve has a more angled flow path, which reduces pressure drop and is suitable for high-pressure applications.
Globe valves are widely used in various industries, including oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, chemical processing, water treatment, and HVAC systems. The choice of materials and design depends on the specific application and the properties of the fluid being handled.

We manufacture a wide range of Globe Valves which includes seal globe valves, gate globe valves and cast iron globe.

Regent Globe Valves are O.S. & Y Type i.e. outside screw & yoke, Bolted bonnet, & Rising stem. Globe valves are used where throttling and both throttling and shut-off is required. They can also be used for on-off service, but because of high pressure drop, this is generally confined to applications where the valve is normally closed and drop is not important when the valve is open. Normally globe valves are installed with flow under the disc, but under certain conditions flow over the disc may have the advantages.

Design Features:
  • Streamlined shaped body for smooth flow of the working fluid for minimum pressure Drop.
  • Back seating arrangement permits the replacement of packings while the valve is in full open position

Material Structure:

  • End Connection: Flanged end raised face, Butt weld end, RTJ, etc.
  • Operation : Hand wheel, Gear operator, Electrical Actuator, Pneumatic, Hydraulic
